You are right, tech is super crowded. That is why I am working on trying to find a "sub-niche" in tech. Right now it seems that I am moving to the mobile and cloud computing parts of tech. Tech is a crowded niche, but there's always room in it for good writers. My view is that the "big boys" in the niche have all become a little remote, a little distant from the readers they serve.
